 SAY HI TO RUGGERO MARAMOTTI

TELL US ABOUT YOU… AND A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR LIFE AND CHILDHOOD

I grew up in a big house in the suburb of a small Italian city. I never had a lot of friends to play with and I had been spending my childhood playing with my brother and all the animals of the garden: cats, dogs, ducks, chickens and rabbits. I reckon that made me always attracted and comfortable towards them.

WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR WORK?

The best part of my work is the process that I know will make my client happy and satisfied. To understand the need and the request and to grant them -with the shooting itself and then the post-production.

ARE YOU ADDICTED TO SOMETHING?

My addiction is licorice almost in any form but I am able to keep far from it. Addictions scare me.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE BREAKFAST?

I don’t do big breakfast myself, I randomly alternate coffee with black tea but in the weekends I have English breakfast with my kids: eggs, bacon, baked beans and toasted bread.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE BREAK?

My favorite break is being in the silence of a forest. Looking for a lake or a stream where to fly fish with my dog besides me. And, in the right season, looking for the good mushrooms; with the dog and my daughters.

YOUR FAVOURITE WAY TO PROCRASTINATE?

I am a champion in procrastinating! I recently discovered of suffering ADHD and that explained many flaws of my behavior. I get off the chair and I read a book or set unnecessarily my fly box...

Duke Ellington once said I don’t need time. I need a deadline. That’s my unprofessional fa outride quote.

BEST THING ABOUT BEING A DAD?
THE WORSE?

The best thing being a father is the constant feeling of the unique and unbreakable bond between me and the two persons I love most. The worst is probably the lack of time that I’ve (sometimes!) for myself.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU WILL TEACH TO YOUR DOUGHTERS?
I teach my kids to be kind. Always. With anyone and anything. And I encourage them to be besides the fragile at school. I teach them also to play chess...

DO YOU HAVE A FAMILY SONG / MUSIC/ RITUALS?

We actually don’t listen to music often... every night, after having read in bed, we go to bed with a song or music. For months we had “Le Sirene” by V. Capossela, then “Un Malato Di Cuore” by F. De André and now the cello suites by Bach.

WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT DAYDREAM?

My daydream is to accept better my living in Stockholm and to fall in love again.

WHAT DOES YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE OF CLOTHING SAY ABOUT YOU?

I have many wool sweaters very torn and with holes that could probably tell that I don’t like to change, that I am very forgiving towards flaws.

DESCRIBE SARTORIA VICO IN FOUR WORDS.

Sartoria Vico: Sophistication. Accuracy. Coziness. Warmth.

LET’S BREAK DOWN A MYTH ABOUT KNITWEAR

Well made knitwear gives the feeling of unique and personal hadcraft without the “amateur” approach.  And soft natural wool is comfortable in any season.

To whom it may concern: that is the way of holding a rabbit.
