SAY HI TO MARGHERITA RONCORONI
TELL US ABOUT YOU AND A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR LIFE AND CHILDHOOD
My name is Margherita, I am a 29 years old goldsmith. Four years ago I created Thin Things: a jewelry brand characterized by simple and geometric lines. I always felt an attraction for jewels -like having new ones to wear- since I had the chance to discover the magic of combining handcraft and creativity: it was love at first try!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE BREAKFAST?
I have to admit that I am quite repetitive with my breakfast’s rituals: it is my favorite meal and sometimes I would like to change my routine. Coffee is compulsory lately, and it comes with a large bowl of greek yogurt with cereals and kiwi or any other seasonal fruits.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY IN YOUR STUDIO LOOK LIKE?
Once I arrive in the studio, I check which orders I have to fulfill: in the morning I usually arrange shipments and answer to tons of emails. Almost every day I have to visit my suppliers who, fortunately, are very close to the laboratory, to buy new materials. Once everything is set, I can finally start working with my hands, adding pieces to the collections that I keep in the studio or starting to draw new custom-made jewels for new projects and clients.
YOUR PROFESSION REQUIRES PATIENCE, PRECISION AND A BIT OF STRENGTH, WHICH QUALITY DO YOU LIKE THE MOST?
Precision. It allows me to do a clean job without weighing too much on the final aesthetics: I start every project defining its boundaries and the acceptable margin of inaccuracy depending on the final output.
ANY CLOTHES YOU WOULD NEVER WEAR?
I would never wear a total denim outfit. I would never match a pair of jeans with a denim jacket, both things that I like very much and use a lot, but only with other clothes.
LET’S BREAK DOWN A MYTH ABOUT KNITWEAR
I used to associate knitwear with sweaters and hats, without considering that it fits to other clothes like trousers, jumpsuits or dresses. I often wear knitwear to work in the laboratory, because of its comfort and excellent fit.
