SAY HI TO ELISA MACCARIO

TELL US ABOUT YOU

Ciao! I'm Elisa, I'm 34, and I've been living in Milan for 16 years. I came to Milan from Turin, where I was born, for studying communication. Right after university I started to work in a press office and later I begun to work as wholesale manager for Lomography. I started my own business in 2013 and I finally opened Me Studio, my showroom a couple of years ago.
I work as sale agent for fashion and design brands, trying to find the most suitable stores to make them grow. I work with talented, passionate and wonderful designers and retailers.

WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR WORK?

Definitely the people! Working with passionate and creative people who put their efforts in new amazing projects full of enthusiasm is a source of energy that makes everything more magical and less boring. Transmitting the world and the passion of an independent brand to someone who appreciate the hard work behind it is a great satisfaction.

WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION / HOW DO YOU CHOOSE A BRAND TO WORK WITH?

All the brands that I propose to my clients are first of all beautiful “stories” that fascinate me from a personal point of view. I would never invest in something I do not believe!

YOUR PROFESSION REQUIRES PATIENCE, PRECISION AND A BIT OF STRENGTH, WHICH QUALITY DO YOU LIKE THE MOST?

Precision. It allows me to do a clean job without weighing too much on the final aesthetics: I start every project defining its boundaries and the acceptable margin of inaccuracy depending on the final output.

WHAT IS YOUR DAY-TO-DAY GO OUTFIT?

I always wear comfortable and simple clothes that makes me feel at ease all day long.

HOW IS TO WORK WITH SMALL-INDIPENDENT BRANDS?

It’s beautiful, but it’s challenging.
Unfortunately the logic of today's market does not help the development of small brands (especially in the fashion system). Most of the time we evaluate a product based on the name written on the label or on the price - rather than evaluate the quality and research behind a collection. It’s important that the final customer learns how to understand the difference between a "mass" product and a handmade product. Luckily there are also many passionate shop owners that are investing on sharing this message to their customers.

HOW IS THE FASHION SYSTEM CHANGING?

I believe that nowadays the final client has gained more awareness on the fashion system te let them act more consciously. People are finally starting to evaluate more and more where and who made their clothes, the quality of the materials used and the whole production process. It is very important for everyone to consider all those facts before doing compulsive purchases that are could damage our unstable ecosystem. I hope the future of fashion will follow a more conscious direction.

WHAT IS YOUR NEXT PROJECT?

Well ... my next big personal step will be to become a mom and to find out how I will be in this new version of myself :)

YOU ARE A SPORTY GIRL. WHICH IS YOUR CURRENT FAV ACTIVITY?

I like to stay active and I think sport is the best remedy for a bad mood. In the last 3/4 years I practiced mainly Ashanga Yoga, an intense practice that first of all taught me to be always focused on the present.

ANY CLOTHES YOU WOULD NEVER WEAR?

I don't like sophisticated dresses and especially high-heeled shoes :)

HOW DO YOU FEEL WEARING SARTORIA VICO WHILE EXPECTING?

I’m a deep lover of Sartoria Vico and their clothes became my daily uniform even more from the beginning of my pregnancy. Their simple lines perfectly adapt to the changing shapes of my body and are making me feel cuddled in a soft hug.
You have the feeling of going out with your favorite pijama, but you are wearing a wonderful jumpsuit that makes you look and feel beautiful!

LET'S BREAK DOWN A MYTH ABOUT KNITWEAR

"Knitwear is too hot for summer"
The cotton crepe of the summer collection of Sartoria Vico is so delicate, fresh and imperceptible that you would never want to take it off!

Yes - obviously I’m biased :) — but it's true!
