SAY HI TO ELENA PINZA

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOU

Ciao, my name is Elena, I was born and grown in Ravenna, in the sunny Romagna. I am mother of a 4 years boy, Jacopo, with another baby arriving soon. We live in a house in the outskirts, where you can breathe the fresh country breeze, sorrounded by nature and animals. My parents live nearby, providing us with fresh eggs, and growing a garden full of vegetables and animals. We are lucky enough to live close to the sea, and going to the beach, in Winter as well, it is such a privilege we could never give up. We love trips on the Appennini, our mountains and everything that let us be in touch with Nature.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING?

I work in a small independent book shop -libreria Modernissima, in the city centre. Actually, it is much more than a book shop, it is a kind of concept store where you can find a selection of books, personally picked up by ourselves, and lot of objects for decorating the house, accessories, jewelries, bags with a focus on originality, handmade, love and care in the creation and production. With my partner, Mattia, we have recently opened a bed&breakfast which (lockdown aside) is giving us a lot of satisfactions.

HOW IS YOUR DAILY ROUTINE? AND WHAT ABOUT THE WEEKENDS?

During my normal days I work part-time: in the morning I run Jacopo to kindergarten, I have breakfast at a bar, then back to home to clean up or out in the surroundings, looking for new places or stores or visiting exhibitions. Then it’s time for the book shop till the evening, when, back home, we reunite all together. so, normally, I am always on a move. Weekends do not exist, because the bookshop has always been opened on Saturdays. Still Sunday it’s trip day: up on the hills, down to the pinewwod, at the beach, with lunch or picnic enclosed in the package.

WHICH IS THE BEST THING ABOUT PARENTING? AND THE WORST?

Best thing is the choice to become a parent, I could never imagine a life without Jacopo, he is the best thing I have done in my life so far! The worst is being stressed and unload on our children without even realising it.

WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT DAYDREAM OR OBSESSION?

Nowadays the thing I desire the most is to reopen our b&b, to host people from all over the world, connect and share whit others. I hope we can get back to normality as soon as possible. Ah, and also to build a treehouse!

BEING PREGNANT IN LOCKDOWN: HOPE OR ANXIETY?

Both of them, for sure. Anxiety never let me, but I always try to keep going, living my day and check statistics only by night. Still, hope and happiness for the forthcoming baby are much stronger than anything else.

HOW MANY BOOKS, OR MOVIES OR SERIES? ANY SUGGESTION?

I will strongly suggest Febbre by Jonathan Bazzi e Benevolenza cosmica by Fabio Bacà, from my last readings. Movies: Parasite by Bong Joon-ho, American Honey by Andrea Arnold and Il Calamaro e la Balena, one of the firsts Baumbach’s movies you can now find on Netflix. And about series: we are now going through Game of Thrones, we started Normal People, from a Sally Rooney’s book I really loved and two teen series, UnorthodoxI am not ok with this and Summertime (because the story take place not far away from here, in Romagna).

AND WHAT ABOUT RECIPES, ANY PIZZAS, FOCACCIAS OR HANDMADE PASTA?

We sure work out a lot on this!

We baked bread, pizzas and focaccias, pies and cakes almost on a daily basis. Every Sunday we tried some serious staff like pastry, ragù or traditional brothel (I have to admit my partner is a best cook than me). The quarantine helped us to become more independent (culinary speaking). I want to assure the readers that we do not only feed on carbs!

WHICH TYPE ARE YOU: FULL DRESS-UP OR PIJAMA ALL DAY LONG?

None of them. I do not dress “well” to stay at home (except for this photo shooting with your beautiful dresses…) because we usually stay out in the garden or play with animals. Still, pijama all day is definitely a not!

FIRST PLAN FOR PHASE 3-4-5?

To reunite with my family and friends, a trip to visit mountains and the seaside, have breakfast at my favourite “bar” and a fine dinner outside. for gigs and movies I think we will have to wait a little longer.

WHAT DID YOU LEARN YOU WANT TO SHARE DURING THE LOCKDOWN?

We have been together 24/7, we have learn to coexist with new routines, new diversions, we got bored, we waited and hoped together. Everything we have lived will become part of us and never leave too easily.

WHICH IS THE STORY BEHIND YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE OF CLOTHING?

My favourite piece of clothing is a Wood Wood sweater, coming from the store Glue Clothing, specialised in Nordic brands and ran by my partner 10 years ago. It’s like my Linus’ blanket.

KNITWEAR IN PREGNANCY? WHAT DID YOU FIND OUT?
LET’S BREAK DOWN A MYTH ABOUT KNITWEAR:

It is absolutely stunning! It adapts perfectly to my new shape with no distortion and without making me a sort of baloon, no pressure or constrain. It is handmade with the best materials, wearable in Winter and Summer as well, and it will fit perfectly my body shape even when my bump will be gone. Knitwear is forever, and ever if designed and produced like yours!
